2011 Atlantic Canadian Wine Awards Announced
Saturday, September 17, 2011 - Halifax, N.S. – ‘Cheers’ to 12 wineries from Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick who received medals at the third annual Atlantic Canadian Wine Awards. Presented by the Canadian Association of Professional Sommeliers Atlantic Chapter (CAPSAC) the awards recognize excellence in local wines.
“With 93 Wines from 12 Wineries competing in this year’s event, judges were challenged by another excellent showing” says Dan Tanner, president of CAPSAC. “Both long standing wineries and newcomers to the scene have shown great progress in the industry and will open the eyes of many to the great wines being produced locally.”
Before a sold out crowd of culinary enthusiasts at the Nov Scotia Fall Wine Festival Celebration Dinner in Wolfville, Gold awards were presented to Gaspereau Vineyards, Jost Vineyards, Domaine de Grand Pre, Avondale Sky, Belliveau Orchard, L’Acadie Vineyards, Blomidon Estate Winery, Magnetic Hill Winery & Luckett Vineyards.
“These awards recognize the hard work, dedication and expertise of the wineries and their winemakers. Year over year, the quality of the wines improves and are increasingly enjoying greater recognition in Atlantic Canada, and throughout North America”, says Tanner.
The Wine Competition was conducted based on blind-tasting by a judging panel comprised of Sommeliers who are members of CAPSAC . The awards are presented annually to showcase the best wine Atlantic Canada has to offer. For more information about CAPSAC please visit
